Snehasish Mozumder, mandolin

Snehasish Mozumder is among the few established musicians who have adapted the mandolin to Hindustani classical music. He started his initial training at the age of four with tabla and then mandolin under the guidance of his grandfather, Sri Bibhuty Ranjan Mozumder, his father Sri Himangshu Mazumder, and his uncle Sri Ranjan Mozumder. Gradually he switched over to his cousin, the well-known sarod player Sri Tejendra Narayan Majumdar; Acharya Ajoy Sinha Roy, a disciple of Baba Allauddin Khan Saheb; and Pt. Anil Palit, seniormost disciple of Pt. Kishan Maharaj, Finally he came under the tutelage of Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty. Snehasish has performed at major festivals in India and toured Europe, the U.K. , and the U.S. He is a recipient of the Surmani and Jadubhatta Awards. Official webpage
